We list 10 undergraduate Arts & Humanities Scholarships for Nigerian Students, with the deadline, study level and eligibility of each one taken from the award's own terms. 5 of them are fully funded. These awards do not restrict the field of study, so arts & humanities applicants can apply too.

This page collects 10 undergraduate scholarships in arts and humanities that are open to Nigerian students. Every award here is for a first degree, and every one sits in the arts and humanities field. The list is not a single scheme with ten branches; it is ten separate awards, run by different institutions and governments, each with its own application form, its own entry requirement and its own closing date.
Six providers appear by name: Queensland University, Shanghai Universities, Beijing Universities, Boston University, Berea College and the University of Kent. The countries represented are China with 3 awards, the United Kingdom with 2, the United States with 2, and Australia, Canada and Romania with 1 each.
Funding is labelled on some awards and not on others. 5 of the 10 are marked fully funded and 1 is marked partially funded. The remaining 4 do not state their funding either way, so treat those as unknown until you open the award page and read the terms yourself.
When an award spells out what it covers, the benefits named are tuition fees on 3 awards, accommodation on 1, and research or training costs on 1. Those are the benefits the awards themselves put in writing. They are not a promise that every cost of your degree disappears. Budget separately for flights, visa fees, health cover, books and the day-to-day cost of living, because the brief does not show any award covering those.
Durations vary. Two awards run for 4 years, one runs for 1 year, one describes a bachelor's degree programme of 4 to 5 years, and one runs for 4 years or longer depending on the major. A long award is not automatically the better one. A four-year commitment in a country you have never visited is a serious decision, and you should weigh it against the course content and the city, not just the length of the funding.
For 8 of the 10 awards, Nigerians may apply. None of those 8 names Nigeria or the West African region in its eligibility text; all 8 simply carry no nationality restriction. That distinction matters. An award with no stated restriction is open to you on paper, but the selection committee still decides, and the pool is international. The other 2 awards do not state their eligibility on the award page at all, so you will need to check the provider's own rules before you spend money on a transcript or a courier.
The pathway into this level is straightforward. You finished secondary school, and your WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or SSCE results are the qualification that leads into an undergraduate degree. Most of these awards ask for your senior secondary results and an admission offer; each award page quotes its own entry requirement, and some will also want a personal statement, a portfolio or evidence of your subjects.
The requirements stated in writing are few, and they are worth reading carefully because each one costs you time or money.
An admission offer first is the requirement that catches most people out. If a scholarship closes in December and you have not yet applied to the university, you are already behind. Work backwards: university application, then offer letter, then scholarship form. English tests take booking time and results take weeks to arrive, so if either of the two awards requiring IELTS or TOEFL is on your shortlist, book the test before you need it, not after.
Three awards carry a date, three are still open, and seven are undated. Three are recurring, which means the cycle returns each year rather than closing permanently. The busiest months in this set are December, March and June, one award each.
The three closing soonest are:
The Romania award is listed as fully funded and covers undergraduate, master's and PhD level, so it appears on more than one list on this site. The Boston University award is the nearest deadline and the one to act on first if the United States is where you want to study.
The Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) Fully Funded 2026 - 2027 is listed as fully funded and covers undergraduate, master's and PhD study, with a deadline described as between January and June of each year. The Beijing Government Scholarship 2026-2027 (Fully Funded) is also fully funded across undergraduate, master's and PhD level, with its deadline given as "see details" on the award page. China carries 3 of the 10 awards on this list, the largest single country share, so if you are open to studying in Chinese universities, this is where the volume sits.
Note the level spread. The same providers that fund undergraduates here also fund master's and PhD students, and those appear elsewhere on the site. If your first degree plans do not work out this cycle, the master's route is not closed to you later.
Open the three dated awards first and read the eligibility text in full. Confirm two things before you spend anything: whether the award is open to Nigerian applicants, and whether it requires an admission offer before you can apply. If it does, start the university application immediately, because that is the longer process.
Then gather your documents in one place: WAEC or NECO results, your secondary school transcripts, a passport photograph, and a copy of your passport. If an English test is required, book it now. If letters of recommendation are required, ask your referees early and give them something written to work from rather than a verbal request.
For the 4 awards that do not state their funding, do not assume. Read the provider's page and find out whether tuition is covered, partly covered or not covered at all. Applying costs you time, transcript fees and courier charges, and those are real money. Spend them on awards where you can see the terms.
Finally, keep the undated awards on your list. Seven of the ten do not show a deadline, and three are recurring, so a cycle that looks closed today may open again. Check back on the pages you shortlist rather than relying on a single visit.
