About this list

Fully Funded Business & Management Scholarships Open to Nigerian Students, explained

Written from the 12 awards on this page — every figure below is counted from what the awards themselves state. 5 min read.

What this page lists

This page collects 12 fully funded scholarships in business and management that are open to Nigerian students. Every award here is labelled fully funded by the body offering it, and every one of the 12 is open to Nigerian applicants in the wording of the award itself.

The list is not only for one level. Ten of the 12 are open at master's level, six at bachelor's level and six at doctoral level, so a Nigerian student finishing a B.Sc or HND, one finishing an M.Sc, and one already working and considering a PhD can all find something here. Some awards sit at more than one level, which is why the level counts add up to more than 12.

Where the awards are

China carries the largest share of this list, with four awards. Australia follows with two, and the United Kingdom and the United States have two each. The Netherlands has one and Switzerland has one.

That spread matters when you are pricing the application. A Chinese or Australian award usually means a longer flight, a different document set and a visa timeline you have to plan around. A Netherlands or Swiss award puts you in a smaller programme with a shorter academic calendar. Read each award page before you commit to a shortlist, because the country shapes the cost of getting there as much as the funding does.

What the awards say they cover

Fully funded does not mean the same thing on every page. Of the 12 awards, five state that they cover tuition and five state that they cover living costs. Three name travel. Two name health insurance, and two name research or training costs. One names accommodation.

Those are the benefits the awards write down. Where an award does not name a benefit, this page does not claim it for them. Treat the wording on the individual award page as the only reliable description of what is paid, and check whether the living-cost figure is a stipend, a reimbursement or a contribution you have to top up yourself.

Two of the awards on this list state a number of places. One of them, the Schwarzman Scholars Program, names up to 140. Where an award gives no number of places, we have not guessed one.

Do Nigerian applicants qualify?

All 12 awards on this page are open to Nigerian students. Ten of them carry no nationality restriction at all. Two name Nigeria or the wider region in their eligibility wording.

That is the whole picture: 12 awards, 10 with no nationality restriction, 2 that name Nigeria or the region. Neither group is a separate list on top of the other, and none of the 12 states an eligibility rule that excludes Nigerian applicants.

Where an award names a region rather than a country, read the page carefully. Regional wording sometimes comes with a condition about where you studied or where you currently live, and that condition is stated on the award, not here.

What the applications ask for

The requirements below are the ones the awards state in writing. They are not a checklist every award uses, and no single application will ask for all of them.

  • Letters of recommendation: 6 awards
  • An English test score (IELTS or TOEFL): 4 awards
  • Work experience: 2 awards
  • A minimum degree class: 1 award
  • A research proposal: 1 award
  • An admission offer first: 1 award

Six awards want recommendation letters, which is the single most common requirement on this list. For a Nigerian applicant that usually means three referees: a project supervisor, a lecturer who taught you in your final year, and a manager if you have worked. Give each of them at least three weeks, and give them the award name, the deadline and a short note on what the scholarship is for. A referee writing blind produces a generic letter.

Four awards ask for IELTS or TOEFL. If you studied your degree in English, check the award page for a waiver before you pay for a test. Waivers exist on some awards and not on others, and the page will say which applies.

Two awards ask for work experience. One asks for a minimum degree class, so read the exact wording on that page before you assume your class is enough. One asks for a research proposal, which is the doctoral route. One requires that you hold an admission offer before you apply for the funding, which changes the order of your tasks entirely: you apply to the university first, then to the scholarship.

Deadlines and how they fall

Six of the 12 awards give a date. Six are still open. Six are recurring, meaning the award runs again on a cycle rather than closing permanently. Six carry no date on the page at all.

The busiest month on this list is October, with two deadlines. April and December each carry one.

Five awards close soonest, and these are the ones to look at first:

Two more awards on the list carry dates worth noting. The University of Tasmania Scholarship 2027 (Fully Funded) closes 1 October and is open at master's and PhD level. Where an award states a duration, the terms differ: one doctoral award runs for 3.5 years with no extension available, and one bachelor's programme runs four to five years.

How to work through this list

Start with the five dated awards above, because a date forces a decision. Open each one, note the level, the country and the documents it asks for, and mark whether you already hold what it needs. If an award wants an admission offer first, it belongs in a later round of your planning, not this one.

Then look at the six recurring awards. A recurring deadline is not a reason to wait a year. It is a reason to build the documents now, because transcripts, courier receipts and referee letters take time you cannot compress at the end.

Order your documents before you order anything else. Request transcripts from your department early, confirm the fee and the collection process, and budget for courier delivery. Ask your referees in one message with all the deadlines listed. Book an English test only if the award you are targeting asks for one and does not offer a waiver.

Finally, apply to more than one. Twelve awards sit on this page, spread across six countries and three study levels, and the requirements overlap far less than the deadlines do. Two applications built from the same transcript and the same referees cost you very little extra time.
